RAWALPINDI: PTI leader and Imran Khan’s sister, Aleema Khan, staged a sit-in at Factory Khana on Adiala Road to protest the jail administration’s refusal to allow her to meet with Imran Khan. She declared that she would stay there until her meeting with her brother is granted.
Police have begun taking action against Aleema Khan and several other protesters, with reports of arrests. Speaking to the media outside Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail, Aleema Khan criticized the jail authorities for blocking her meetings with Imran Khan over the past two weeks. She accused the government of fearing her sharing Imran Khan’s messages with the public.
She emphasized that PTI is fighting for the rights of Imran Khan and the general public, asserting that Imran Khan has the right to meet his family and legal representatives. Aleema also expressed concerns about the judiciary’s independence, stating that following the 27th Amendment, courts have been silenced, and after the 28th Amendment, courts risk becoming hollow structures.
She highlighted that a three-member bench had ordered her to be allowed a meeting with Imran Khan, but those orders are being ignored. She remarked that contempt of court was once considered a serious offense but is now often ridiculed. Aleema reaffirmed PTI’s trust in the justice system and announced plans to take the matter to the Supreme Court for justice. She criticized the government for spending heavily on judge perks and privileges, suggesting it influences judicial fairness.
She concluded by reiterating PTI’s commitment to securing Imran Khan’s release and fighting for justice.
