QUETTA: The Balochistan Assembly convened on Friday to pass several resolutions aimed at reinforcing oversight, advancing public health policies, and resolving long-standing administrative issues.
During the session, members of the Women Parliamentary Caucus, led by Salma Kakar, introduced a critical resolution urging for the proper enforcement of previously passed public welfare measures. The Assembly observed that although numerous resolutions are routinely forwarded to the provincial administration, their execution often lags behind or lacks efficiency.
The resolution called for the establishment of a dedicated monitoring system to oversee the progress of all approved resolutions across different government departments, with the goal of eliminating bureaucratic hurdles. Lawmakers stressed that a transparent tracking mechanism would ensure that issues raised in the Assembly translate into tangible results for the public.
Provincial Finance Minister Shoaib Nosherwani assured that the government would coordinate with the federal authorities to speed up the resolution implementation process. Parliamentary Secretary Farah Azeem Shah raised concerns about the opacity surrounding how resolutions are processed post-approval, emphasizing the need for accountability. “Our role is to resolve public issues through resolutions. The House is the voice of the people,” she stated.
The Speaker clarified that all resolutions are processed through the Chief Secretary and routed to the relevant departments for action, while legislator Asghar Tareen expressed regret over the lack of departmental follow-up, calling it “regrettable.”
