Shakir tragically died in a car accident on December 26, 1994, at just 42, leaving behind a profound literary legacy. A graduate of the University of Karachi with degrees in English literature and linguistics, she joined the Pakistan Administrative Service in 1982, excelling in roles such as Customs Collector and Principal Secretary.
Her debut work “Khushbu” (1976) gained instant acclaim for its fresh, expressive take on emotions, love, and societal themes, introducing a distinct feminine tone to Urdu poetry. Despite personal challenges, her simple yet evocative style cemented her as a writer ahead of her time.
