ISLAMABAD: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar stated on Saturday that Pakistan’s foreign policy had reached a higher level of international recognition by 2025. He attributed this progress to strengthened diplomatic ties and growing acknowledgment on the global stage.
Addressing a news briefing in Islamabad, Dar expressed optimism about the recent visit of United Arab Emirates President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. He described the visit as constructive and a significant step forward in enhancing bilateral relations.
During the discussions held with the UAE delegation, Dar highlighted a focus on expanding cooperation across multiple sectors, including trade.
He emphasized that the visit marked a positive trajectory for collaboration between the two nations.
Additionally, he noted that Pakistan and the UAE had formalized several trade and investment agreements encompassing energy, banking, and real estate, which he believed would invigorate economic partnerships further.
He described the elevation of Pakistan’s foreign relations as a “divine blessing,” emphasizing that the nation’s global standing reflected the success of a balanced and effective foreign policy.
Turning to regional matters, Dar remarked on tensions with India. He claimed that during a recent conflict, Pakistan’s armed forces decisively neutralized seven Indian aircraft, dealing a blow to India’s military assertion.
He criticized India for propagating unfounded accusations against Pakistan and underscored that adherence to the Indus Waters Treaty remained imperative for peace between the two neighbors.
Dar also referred to allegations concerning the Pahalgam incident, asserting Pakistan’s right to respond to Indian provocations. He stated that in the May clashes, Pakistan’s forces effectively undermined Indian forces through strategic measures, while exercising restraint in their approach. Further escalation was avoided, although a stronger response could have been delivered if the situation had demanded it.
He accused India of making a grave error with its attack on Nur Khan Airbase and commended Pakistan’s calculated retaliation for safeguarding its sovereignty.
The deputy prime minister reaffirmed that Pakistan is committed to pursuing peace but will not compromise its territorial integrity or security under any circumstances. He assured that the nation possesses the strategic capability to counter any aggression decisively.
