ISLAMABAD: Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has unveiled its plans to resume direct flights between Lahore and London, a significant development in re-establishing its international flight network after a six-year hiatus.
As per the announcement, the first flight on this route is scheduled for March 30. Operating under flight number PK-757, the service will connect Lahore with the UK capital. The airline’s decision to relaunch this route marks an important milestone following the prolonged suspension.
All Lahore–London flights will arrive at Heathrow Airport’s Terminal 4. A PIA spokesperson noted that London has always been one of the airline’s premier and historically significant international destinations, underscoring its importance to PIA’s global operations. This initiative is part of the airline’s broader strategy to rebuild connections and trust with overseas Pakistani communities.
The addition of this route will bring PIA’s total weekly flights to the UK to seven. Before the imposed suspension, PIA operated up to 10 weekly flights between Pakistan and London. According to the spokesperson, the frequency of these flights is set to increase progressively, based on passenger demand and operational readiness.
PIA recently announced plans for three weekly flights from Islamabad to London, with services starting on March 29—a day prior to the launch of the Lahore–London route. This expansion from both Lahore and Islamabad is viewed as a major enhancement of PIA’s presence in the UK.
The revival of these flights is expected to significantly benefit travelers, especially overseas Pakistanis residing in central Punjab, by offering added convenience and direct connectivity. PIA officials highlighted that this step is part of the airline’s phased approach to resuming essential international operations.
Reaffirming its commitment to growth, PIA stated that it will continue efforts to expand its long-haul operations as conditions stabilize further.
