KARACHI: Authorities in Karachi have arrested Jibran, son of the notorious Lyari gangster Abdul Rehman Baloch, known as Rehman Dakait, for illegal firearm possession.
The arrest took place in the Kalakot area, where police seized two pistols and ammunition. Described as a repeat offender with a history of multiple arrests, Jibran now faces legal action, with further charges expected.
Jibran was previously detained for offenses like drug possession and violence. Released on bail in June 2022, he reportedly returned to criminal activities, raising concerns about renewed gang violence in Lyari.
Who was Abdul Rehman Baloch ( Rehman Dakait)
Rehman Dakait, Jibran’s father, was a powerful figure in Lyari, leading the Baloch Gang and founding the People’s Aman Committee to cement his control. His life inspired the 2025 Bollywood film “Dhurandhar”, starring Ranveer Singh, highlighting his infamous legacy.
Jibran is one of Rehman Dakait’s many children, several of whom are said to follow in their father’s criminal footsteps. Authorities allege Jibran was assembling a gang and had ties to drug trafficking, kidnappings for ransom, and murder.
This case recalls the fate of Sarban, another of Rehman Dakait’s sons from his second marriage. Sarban was killed in a police encounter after being linked to crimes including murder, kidnappings, and drug trafficking, reflecting his father’s violent legacy.
