PMD predicts first day of Ramadan 2026

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a forecast regarding the sighting of Ramadan moon in 2026.

As per their predictions, the moon will be born on February 17, 2026, at 5:15 pm, with the first day of Ramadan likely to fall on February 19, 2026.

The department noted a strong likelihood of the Ramadan moon being visible on the evening of February 18. In Karachi, the moon’s age at that time will be approximately 26 hours. Sunset in the city is scheduled for 6:25 pm, while the moon is expected to set around 7:24 pm.

Meteorologists emphasized that for the moon to be sighted, it typically needs to be over 19 hours old. This suggests favorable viewing conditions in most regions across the country.

Regarding weather conditions, the PMD projected partly cloudy skies in many areas of Pakistan on February 18. While this might slightly hinder visibility in some locations, observations should still be possible in most parts.
