WASHINGTON: Pakistan and the United States have committed to strengthening their bilateral trade, economic ties, and cooperation in counter-terrorism efforts. This understanding was reached during a meeting between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, held on the sidelines of the Board of Peace Leaders’ gathering in Washington.
The Prime Minister was accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar during the discussions. Both leaders highlighted the significance of the Pakistan-U.S. strategic partnership and expressed contentment with the positive developments and ongoing momentum of their bilateral relationship, particularly under the leadership of President Trump.
During the meeting, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif extended his congratulations to President Donald Trump and Secretary Rubio on the successful inaugural session of the Board of Peace. He reiterated Pakistan’s readiness to collaborate with the Board of Peace in implementing the Gaza Peace Plan.
The Prime Minister underscored the necessity of maintaining high-level diplomatic engagement to achieve shared objectives amid the rapidly changing global landscape. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to working closely with the U.S. to promote peace and stability in the region.
