Security sources say Pakistan’s security forces carried out a strong retaliatory operation along the Pakistan–Afghanistan border following repeated cross-border provocations, killing 72 Afghan Taliban fighters and injuring more than 100 others. During the operation, 12 Afghan border posts were completely destroyed and five were taken under control by Pakistani forces. A major ammunition depot, three battalions, a sector headquarters, and over 30 military assets — including tanks, artillery guns and armoured personnel carriers — were also destroyed. Sources added that Taliban attempts to attack Pakistani check posts using quadcopter drones were foiled, with drones shot down before causing damage. Retaliatory operations are ongoing, while security officials have warned of false claims and misleading videos being spread on social media about the situation.
