WEB DESK: The Iranian ambassador to Russia has categorically denied allegations that Iran’s newly appointed Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, is currently receiving medical care at a hospital in Russia.
Kazem Jalali, Iran’s ambassador in Moscow, rejected these claims in a statement, asserting that such reports are unfounded. He emphasized that “habitual lying is never forgotten by the mind of the deceiver,” referencing a well-known Iranian proverb: “Liars tend to have poor memories and forget quickly.”
The ambassador also criticized Western media outlets for spreading misinformation, noting that similar false claims had previously circulated about the late Khamenei visiting Venezuela and Russia. Now, he said, rumors are being circulated that Mojtaba Khamenei has been transported to Russia for treatment.
He described these reports as part of a psychological operation aimed at destabilization and stressed that Iran’s leadership has no intention of fleeing or hiding. Instead, they are firmly among the Iranian people—on the streets and in the community.
Jalali pointed out that the strength and resilience of the Iranian nation, along with the determination of the government and the capabilities of Iran’s military, will determine the outcome of this ongoing struggle—not only for Iran but for the entire West Asia region. Iran remains committed to defending its sovereignty, independence, and regional security against external pressures and aggression from the United States. He also mentioned that once this conflict concludes, the security framework of West Asia will be reorganized to reflect the true wishes of its people, free from foreign interference.
It’s worth noting that Kuwaiti newspaper Al-Jarida previously reported that Mojtaba Khamenei, aged 56 and injured during an assassination attempt on his father, was moved to Moscow for medical treatment. The report claimed he was brought to Russia following an invitation from Russian President Vladimir Putin himself.
Meanwhile, Iran’s newly appointed Supreme Leader issued his first official statement, which was read aloud on state television by a news anchor.
Furthermore, a senior Iranian official disclosed that Mojtaba Khamenei has rejected proposals aimed at easing tensions with the United States. According to this official, the Supreme Leader dismissed diplomatic suggestions presented by two mediating countries during a recent foreign policy session. In that meeting, Mojtaba Khamenei reportedly declared, “This is not the time for peace; we must defeat the US and Israel, and the US must compensate Iran for the damages inflicted.”
