KARACHI: Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah presided over a meeting on Sunday concerning the development of a new 6 million gallons per day (MGD) water treatment plant in Hyderabad.
During the session, Irrigation Minister Jam Khan Shoro provided an update on the water project, emphasizing that the new treatment plant aims to address the ongoing water scarcity issues in the city.
The Chief Minister instructed authorities to expedite the project’s implementation and authorized the allocation of 22 acres of land for its construction. He also emphasized the importance of upgrading the existing water supply infrastructure, stating, “Our goal is to provide reliable water access to every resident.”
Shah emphasized the need for swift completion of all legal and administrative procedures to ensure efficient progress. He urged the Planning and Development Department to work diligently to meet deadlines.
Highlighting the project’s significance, the Chief Minister stated that increasing Hyderabad’s water filtration capacity is essential for public health, improved living standards, and sustainable urban growth. He also called for strict oversight and transparency in land allocation and project monitoring to guarantee accountability and proper execution.
