ISLAMABAD: Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir visited the National Disaster Management Authority’s (NDMA) National Emergencies Operation Centre (NEOC) to review the country’s disaster readiness amid the ongoing monsoon season. During the visit, he was briefed on Pakistan’s strategic response plans and coordination efforts to handle weather-related emergencies.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the NDMA head provided an overview of NEOC’s operational strengths and its use of advanced technology, including the “Disaster Lens 2026” initiative. This system offers real-time updates on the monsoon situation and supports multi-hazard monitoring to facilitate proactive responses.
Field Marshal Munir praised the NDMA’s proactive measures to enhance Pakistan’s disaster management capabilities. He emphasized the need for sustained operational preparedness, seamless inter-agency collaboration, and rapid response deployment to protect lives and critical infrastructure.
The army chief reiterated the commitment of Pakistan’s armed forces to assist civil authorities during emergencies, reaffirming their readiness to support relief, rescue, and rehabilitation efforts throughout the monsoon period, as reported by ISPR.
