RAWALPINDI: Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry stated on Thursday that India’s long-standing attempt to portray Pakistan as a sponsor of terrorism had “completely collapsed” in the eyes of the international community.
Speaking at a press conference in Islamabad alongside senior naval and air force officials to mark one year of Marka-e-Haq, the DG ISPR highlighted what he described as the major strategic outcomes of the operation.
According to Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, the world now recognizes Pakistan as a victim of externally backed terrorism rather than a state involved in sponsoring militant activities. He said India had spent decades accusing Pakistan without providing credible proof to support its claims.
The military spokesperson further emphasized that Pakistan had emerged as a stabilizing force in the region, reflecting the vision of Muhammad Ali Jinnah for a peaceful and responsible state committed to regional harmony.
Referring to the Marka-e-Haq situation, he said the events demonstrated how India escalated tensions based on what he called false allegations, while Pakistan’s armed forces responded with restraint and professionalism.
Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry also expressed concern over what he termed the growing politicization of India’s military leadership and the increasing militarization of its political environment. He remarked that the Indian army, once regarded as a professional institution, had become deeply politicized in recent years.
