KARACHI: Karachi’s Mayor Murtaza Wahab officially inaugurated a 5 MGD (million gallons per day) water supply scheme for Gulshan Hadeed in District Malir on Monday.
During the ceremony, Mayor Wahab highlighted that the water supply to Gulshan Hadeed and neighboring areas had been cut off by the Steel Mills administration. He assured the residents that the city government, led by the People’s Party, had taken concrete steps to address this issue.
“The residents of Gulshan Hadeed will no longer have to depend on steel mills or other sources for water,” he stated. “A dedicated pipeline spanning four kilometers has been laid at a cost of 500 million rupees to serve this area.”
The project is expected to benefit approximately 500,000 residents of the locality. The mayor noted that the pipeline was completed within just two months, emphasizing the efficiency of the local authorities.
Wahab also pointed out that Malir, historically neglected despite being a PPP stronghold, would see increased development efforts. “More projects and schemes will be introduced for Malir and Gulshan Hadeed to improve living standards,” he committed.
