Iran rejects war, vows to protect sovereignty, dignity: Iranian President

TEHRAN: Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian declared that Iran has no intention of engaging in war but emphasized that the nation will never compromise on its sovereignty or national dignity. He pointed out that external threats and intimidation are merely the enemy’s illusions, and Iran remains steadfast against any form of external aggression.

Addressing a commemorative event for Ayatollah Khomeini in Tehran, President Masoud  clarified that Iran prefers peace over conflict, and prolonged warfare is not in the country’s best interest. Nonetheless, he made it unmistakably clear that if attacked, Iran will stand firm and refuse to surrender.

The President stressed the importance of navigating away from a situation where there is neither full-scale war nor stable peace. He assured that the government is dedicated to safeguarding national sovereignty while actively working to resolve diplomatic impasses through persistent efforts.

Warning against any form of aggression, Masoud  stated that Iran will not retreat or concede if provoked. He called on adversaries to dismiss their ambitions as mere fantasies and stressed the importance of unity and internal cohesion. He cautioned that internal divisions serve the enemies’ interests, and unity must be preserved at all costs.

Iranian President  also highlighted that the recent efforts to unite regional Arab nations against Iran have been unsuccessful, crediting Iran’s diplomatic wisdom and leadership for thwarting such plots.

He further asserted that no external power can force Iran into surrender through aerial bombardments or military campaigns. Using Gaza as an example, he pointed out that even after three years of ongoing conflict, resistance persists, questioning how Iran could be expected to capitulate under similar circumstances. Iran, he reaffirmed, is a nation that will not bow to pressure.

Finally, Masoud  mentioned that the late Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei had given clear instructions to the government to pursue negotiations and seek peaceful solutions, encouraging diplomatic efforts to resolve ongoing issues.
