Karachi police suspend two SHOs over crime, misconduct allegations

KARACHI: Karachi police authorities have suspended two Station House Officers (SHOs) over alleged poor performance, failure to maintain law and order and misconduct in their respective areas.

Karachi Additional Inspector General (AIG) Azad Khan ordered the suspension of Sachal SHO Wilayat Ali Shah and New Town SHO Gul Hassan Kalhoro on Tuesday.

According to police officials, Wilayat Ali Shah was removed from his post after failing to effectively control robbery incidents in the Sachal area. He was also accused of providing misleading information to senior officers. Departmental proceedings have been initiated against him.

New Town SHO Gul Hassan Kalhoro was suspended over allegations of extortion involving a hearing-impaired citizen, along with concerns over his failure to maintain law and order within his jurisdiction.

Police said departmental action has also been launched against Kalhoro to investigate the allegations.

The Karachi police leadership said strict action would be taken against officers found negligent in controlling crime or involved in misconduct while performing their duties.
