ISLAMABAD: In a significant development, Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation (PBC), commonly known as Radio Pakistan, has become the pioneering public sector Organisation and state-owned enterprise (SOE) to connect with NADRA’s innovative digital pensioner verification platform. This integration now allows PBC’s 3,681 pensioners to verify their identities remotely through biometric authentication.
This advancement follows PBC’s earlier achievement in 2025, when it became the first government entity to fully digitize its pension management system. The digitization effort was overseen by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, with Minister Attaullah Tarar providing guidance.
Led by PBC’s Director General Saeed Ahmed Sheikh and supported by the organization’s dedicated IT team, the project aimed to streamline pension processes and enhance service delivery for retirees. The synchronization with NADRA’s database was completed months ago, ensuring pensioners could access the new verification service immediately upon its launch.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif praised NADRA’s “Proof of Life” biometric verification system during its national rollout in Islamabad on August 20, 2026, describing it as “a vital humanitarian service” that would benefit millions of pensioners nationwide.
With the new system now active, pensioners associated with Radio Pakistan have started utilizing remote biometric verification, eliminating the need for frequent visits to banks or government offices. This development is expected to ease the burden on elderly pensioners and individuals facing mobility challenges, while also safeguarding pension records, reducing fraud, and minimizing delays in pension payments.
