ISLAMABAD: Sajjad Haider Khan has officially taken over as the Foreign Office’s new spokesperson, succeeding Tahir Hussain Andrabi. Hailing from Gilgit-Baltistan, Khan currently serves as the Director General for South Asia and the official spokesperson for the Foreign Office.
With extensive diplomatic experience, Khan has served in Pakistan’s missions in Damascus, Budapest, Berlin, and Jakarta. He holds a Master’s degree in Political Science from the University of the Punjab, Lahore. Previously, he served as Pakistan’s Ambassador to Belarus from 2020 to 2025 and is multilingual, fluent in Urdu, English, Arabic, and Balti, with proficiency in German, Indonesian, and Russian.
The appointment was formalized through an official notification. During his final briefing, outgoing spokesperson Tahir Andrabi introduced Khan and expressed confidence in his ability to lead the spokesperson’s office. Andrabi also announced that he would serve as Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the UN in Geneva.
