NEW YORK: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar arrived in New York to attend the high-level week of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).
Dar was welcomed upon arrival by Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the UN Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, Ambassador of Pakistan to the United States Rizwan Saeed Sheikh, Consul General in New York Aamer Ahmed Atozai, as well as officials from Pakistan’s UN mission and consulate.
The deputy prime minister is scheduled to attend a series of high-level meetings and ministerial sessions during the UNGA week.
He will present Pakistan’s position on issues of national, regional and international significance and take part in discussions covering various matters on the UN agenda.
Dar will also accompany Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif during the UNGA engagements and hold bilateral meetings with foreign counterparts.
A number of other high-level meetings and events are also planned on the sidelines of the General Assembly session, according to the programme.
