KHUSHAB: Polling for the by-election for the Punjab Assembly constituency PP-84-Khushab is underway.
The polling started at 8:00am and will continue till 5:00pm without any break. According to Election Commission, preparations for by-election in PP-84-Khushab have been completed.
At least eight candidates are in the field whereas a closed contest is expected between Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) candidate Ali Hasnain, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) candidate Muazzam Sher Kalu and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) candidate Ghulam Habib.
According to Election Commission, 229 polling stations have been set up in the constituency for 292,687 registered voters who will exercise their right to vote during today’s polling.
At least 14 polling stations have been declared sensitive and will be monitored with the help of CCTV cameras while 2880 policemen and 600 Rangers will perform security duties.
The Punjab Assembly seat from Khushab fell vacant after the death of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) MPA Waris Kalu.
