PM Imran Approaches IHC Over ECP Notice Barring Him To Attend Election Rally

Islamabad: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Thursday approached Islamabad High Court (IHC) over the Election Commission Of Pakistan (ECP) notice banning the premier to attend his party rallies.

The PM insisted the court in the petition, which was filed with signature of Minister of Planning and Special Initiatives Asad Umar, to hold the hearing today (Thursday).

Asad Umar in the petition said that the ECP don’t have powers to interpret the laws.

The registrar of the IHC pointing objection to the PM plea said that there is no affadavit of the PM and biometric attached with the petition.

Earlier, Asad Umar reached the IHC along with a team of counsels wherein he filed the petition against the ECP notification.

The ECP and federation through secretary cabinet have been made party in the case.

Talking to media after filing the petition in the IHC , Asad Umar said that the public office holder had been given permission to attend an election campaign through legislation.

He apprised that despite legislation the ECP issued notice to the PM.
