Bushra Ansari delivers befitting response to Javed Akhtar

WEB DESK: Veteran Pakistani actress, writer, and social activist Bushra Ansari has ignited a fresh controversy with strong criticism directed at Indian lyricist Javed Akhtar and India’s policies, particularly regarding Kashmir and its treatment of Pakistani citizens.

Currently on a European tour, Ansari released a video statement on Instagram expressing her views, which have since gone viral and garnered significant attention and praise within Pakistan.

In her statement, Ansari questioned India’s actions, calling them a “drama” and urging the country to examine its “failed policies.” She specifically highlighted the issue of women who have lived in India for decades reportedly being sent back to Pakistan, asking why they were granted visas initially if they were to be deported later.

Ansari’s criticism of Javed Akhtar was particularly pointed. She directly addressed the lyricist, stating, “You don’t even believe in Allah and you speak against Pakistan, you are a strange person, you are close to death and still not stopping, at least be quiet like Naseeruddin Shah.” This remark referenced Akhtar’s secular stance and his previous comments about Pakistan.

Beyond individual figures, Ansari also took aim at the Indian media, specifically calling out anchor Arnab Goswami as a “shouting mental patient.” She further criticized retired Indian military officers who, in her view, consistently express hostility towards Pakistan.

However, Ansari also shared a positive anecdote from her European trip, recounting a warm interaction with an Indian girl. She suggested that while certain individuals spread animosity, hatred does not exist among the general public.

Bushra Ansari’s outspoken stance has been widely praised on social media within Pakistan, with many commending her bravery, eloquence, and patriotism. Her comments have reignited discussions about India-Pakistan relations and the role of public figures in shaping narratives.
