China provides veterinary vaccines to Pakistan to boost livestock health

ISLAMABAD: In a move to enhance livestock disease management in Pakistan, China has donated vital veterinary vaccines, including those for Lumpy Skin Disease and Brucella melitensis. The handover ceremony took place in Islamabad today, emphasizing the strengthening of bilateral cooperation in agriculture and animal health.

The event was attended by Pakistan’s Minister for National Food Security and Research, Rana Tanveer Hussain, along with Chinese Chargé d’Affaires Shi Yuanqiang, along with scientists and livestock sector specialists. 

Addressing the attendees, Rana Tanveer Hussain highlighted that the vaccine donation exemplifies the longstanding friendship between Pakistan and China, as well as their expanding collaboration in agriculture, research, science, and technology sectors. 

He underscored the importance of timely vaccination as a crucial preventive strategy to protect livestock from infectious diseases, curb disease spread, and reduce economic losses in the livestock industry. The initiative marks a significant step towards improving animal health and supporting Pakistan’s agricultural sector through international partnership.
