RAWALPINDI: Accountability court has sentenced the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf founding chief 14 year imprisonment.
Accountability Court Judge Nasir Javeed pronounced the reserved verdict in the Adyala jail. The court also fined Imran Khan Rs one million and Rs half million to Bushra Bibi.
In case she will not able to pay the fine then additional three months jail she will face.
The court in its verdict also ordered to confiscate land of the Al-Qadir University.
After the verdict the court staff has arrested Bushra Bibi .
Judge Nasir Javeed in its verdict said that the crime proved against Imran Khan adding that the accused found involved in the corruption.
Bushra also found involved in assisting the crime.
Whereas, at the pronouncing of the judgement, the PTI founding chairman and former premier Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi were in the court room.
Malik Riyaz, Ali Riyaz, Farhat Shahzadi, Zulfi Bukhari and Shahzad Akbar declared proscribe offenders.
The court reserved its decision on this matter on December 18. After that the court had earlier fixed December 23 as the date of judgment in the case.
The date of the verdict was postponed, first on January 6 and then on January 13.
More than 100 hearings has been done of this case. On 9 May 2023, Rangers officers detained Imran Khan very firstly from outside the Islamabad High Court, where he had gone to request bail in a number of cases brought against him.
In a notable turn of events, the ongoing legal proceedings in a high-profile case have seen its presiding judges change hands a total of four times.
