KARACHI: The federal government has decided to begin the construction of the Karachi-Sukkur motorway this year.
A special meeting was chaired by Federal Minister for Communications, Abdul Aleem Khan, during which the decision to start the construction of the Karachi-Sukkur motorway this year was finalized.
The Minister for Communications directed the commencement of the construction of the motorway from Karachi to Sukkur and stated that the Sindh government would also be invited to participate in the construction of this motorway.
Abdul Aleem Khan mentioned that the motorway would begin from Karachi Port and would be linked to the Sukkur motorway. He emphasized that the Karachi-Sukkur motorway would complete the North-South motorway network.
He further said that the Karachi to Sukkur motorway project could be initiated under a public-private partnership model, and if PPP was not feasible, the government would bear the full cost of the project.
Abdul Aleem Khan also stated that this motorway would generate a profit of 3000 billion rupees for the government over the next 25 years.
