Over 2,100 Kashmiris killed in IIOJK since Burhan Wani’s martyrdom

IIOJK: In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), Indian forces have reportedly killed 2,108 Kashmiris, including 46 women, since the controversial killing of youth leader Burhan Muzaffar Wani in 2016.

A report issued by the Kashmir Media Service’s Research Section on the anniversary of Wani’s martyrdom details that 364 of these deaths occurred in staged encounters or while in custody. The report also highlights that approximately 30,318 individuals have been injured due to the excessive use of force, including bullets, pellets, and tear gas by Indian security personnel on peaceful protesters and mourners.

Among the injured, around 9,500 suffered pellet gun injuries, with at least 115 losing their eyesight completely. Additionally, approximately 1,800 Kashmiris, mainly youth, children, women, and girls, have become partial eyesight victims due to pellet gun use, underscoring the severe toll of the ongoing conflict in the region.
