D.I.KHAN: On June 13, 2026, around 4:00 pm, a fire broke out at the Pakistan Customs warehouse situated opposite the Anti-Smuggling Unit (ASU) Office in DI Khan. The fire occurred during a scheduled move to a newly built storage facility.
Initial reports indicate that a vehicle used for shifting operations caught fire after being started, which led to the blaze spreading within the warehouse premises. Customs personnel responded immediately by initiating firefighting efforts and activating emergency protocols. Local authorities, including the District Administration, Police, and Rescue 1122, were promptly notified and arrived quickly to assist in firefighting and rescue activities.
At the time of the incident, approximately 80% of the warehouse’s inventory had already been transferred to the new location, including most vehicles stored there. The remaining stock mainly consisted of expired cigarettes and various seized goods. The relocation process was nearing completion, expected to wrap up within the next few days.
During the emergency response, coordinated efforts by Pakistan Customs, Rescue 1122, district authorities, and law enforcement enabled the safe removal of additional vehicles and assets from the affected area. Some boundary walls and nearby structures were temporarily dismantled to allow access for firefighting and rescue teams.
Fortunately, there have been no reports of injuries or casualties. Firefighting operations continued until the fire was fully controlled, and assessment teams began evaluating the damage and salvaging remaining assets. The cause of the fire and the extent of any losses will be determined after detailed investigations.
This incident highlights the ongoing efforts to modernize and relocate Customs storage facilities. The fact that most of the inventory and vehicles had been moved to the new site helped minimize potential losses and ensured that Customs operations could continue with minimal disruption.
Pakistan Customs expressed appreciation for the swift response of Rescue 1122, district authorities, police, and all emergency personnel involved in managing the incident.
