Petrol prices reach Rs. 500 in several districts of Balochistan

QUETTA: The price of petrol has soared to Rs. 500 per liter in multiple districts of Balochistan, leading to widespread disruptions in fuel availability. Many filling stations have temporarily shut down due to the ongoing supply shortage.

A significant disruption in the petroleum supply chain has caused a severe shortage of petrol and diesel across various parts of the province. The crisis has become particularly acute in districts such as Naushki, Kharan, and Loralai, where some vendors are exploiting the situation by charging up to Rs. 500 per liter.

This fuel shortage has had a major impact on transportation and daily activities throughout Balochistan. In Quetta, the provincial capital, numerous petrol stations have closed due to low stocks, while those still operating are facing long queues, with motorists waiting for hours to refuel.

Qayamuddin Agha, President of the Petroleum Dealers Association, stated that authorities have increased fuel supplies from Shikarpur to mitigate the shortage and remain hopeful that the situation will improve soon.

However, the Deputy Commissioner of Quetta explained that the crisis is primarily due to the suspension of Iranian petrol imports, which traditionally supply a large portion of the fuel demand. He confirmed that 60,000 liters of petrol were delivered to Quetta on Wednesday to help stabilize the supply and reduce public frustration.
