Islamabad: Federal Minister for Defense and aviation Khawaja Asif saw off passenger of the Pakistan International Airline (PIA) flight to Paris, which is first flight after its restoration in Europe.
The PIA flights have resumed to Europe after a hiatus of four and half years.
At the occasion, Khawaja Asif said that Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has played a vital role in restoration of the national carrier flights to Europe.
He said that now green flag will hoist on skies of Europe while the PIA flights will operate in the whole of Europe.
The Minister thanked all the people who made direct flights to Europe possible adding we are now fulfilling international standards.
He said that in coming days flights for the UK and the USA will be started adding that the PIA will get its lost position.
The flight number PK-740 carrying 309 passengers was left for Paris. The flight departed from the Islamabad International Airport at 12:40 pm.
Khawaja Asif cut inauguration ribbons of flights along with staff of France embassy.
Besides that Secretary aviation , Director General (DG) Civial Aviation Authority (CAA), Chief Executive of the PIA Amir Hyat, Airport manager Aftab Gillani were also present at the event.
The ban on the PIA had lifted on November 29.
