ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has decided to begin the process of expelling illegal Afghan migrants from April 1, 2025.
For over 40 years, Pakistan has been a strong support for Afghan refugees, providing them with shelter, employment, and education, despite facing severe economic challenges itself.
No other country in the world has been able to shelter such a large number of refugees for such a long period, but Pakistan has always kept its doors open for Afghan brothers and sisters.
Despite facing terrorism, economic crises, and security concerns, Pakistan has never turned its back on Afghan refugees and has ensured their dignity, safety, and well-being.
Pakistan has borne the heaviest burden of the Afghan conflict, sacrificing thousands of lives and incurring billions of dollars in economic losses, but still, it did not abandon these refugees.
The international community acknowledges Pakistan’s unparalleled services to refugees, but the real responsibility demands that a well-organized, legal, and fair repatriation process be ensured.
The world speaks only of refugee rights, but Pakistan has taken practical steps to support millions of Afghan refugees, even when international aid was insufficient.
Pakistan’s generosity has been unparalleled, but for long-term stability, sustainable solutions are essential—responsible repatriation and international community partnership, rather than unjust criticism.
The time has come for the world to recognize Pakistan’s immense sacrifices and assist in ensuring the safe and dignified return of Afghan refugees, instead of unfairly criticizing a sovereign nation for enforcing its own laws.
