ISLAMABAD: The Tehreek Tahafuz Ayeen-i-Pakistan (TTAP) has vehemently criticized the recent reassignment of judges from the Islamabad High Court, asserting that it poses a significant threat to the independence of the judiciary.
In an official statement, TTAP described the transfer as a breach of the constitutional doctrine of separation of powers, accusing it of being an effort to subordinate the judiciary to the executive branch.
The alliance cautioned that such measures could lead to a resurgence of old tactics used to target political adversaries, including administrative actions like judicial reassignments.
Rejecting the “coerced transfer” of Islamabad High Court judges, TTAP called for an urgent review of the decision and urged the legal fraternity to stand united in defending the integrity and independence of judicial institutions.
Additionally, TTAP appealed to the Islamabad Bar and the Bar Council to actively participate in protecting the credibility of the judiciary and resist unconstitutional moves.
Meanwhile, the opposition coalition expressed its backing for Chief Justice Yahya Afridi’s position, asserting that his stance aligns with the constitutional principles enshrined in the law.
