ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif engaged in a series of diplomatic conversations with leaders of Qatar, Azerbaijan, Malaysia, and Tajikistan on the occasion of Eid-ul-Adha, emphasizing Pakistan’s commitment to regional peace, strengthening bilateral ties, and unity within the Muslim world.
In his call with Qatar’s Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Prime Minister extended Eid greetings and gratitude for Qatar’s constructive diplomacy in easing recent Pakistan-India tensions. Both leaders discussed ways to deepen trade and investment relations, with plans to meet soon. The Emir also conveyed Eid wishes to the Pakistani people.
Shehbaz also congratulated Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev on Eid, recalling his visit to Lachin during Azerbaijan’s Independence Day celebrations and thanking Baku for its ongoing support amid Pakistan’s recent conflicts with India. Both leaders expressed a desire to further strengthen their brotherly relationship.
In a conversation with Malaysian Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Shehbaz exchanged Eid greetings and highlighted Malaysia’s principled stance during Pakistan’s recent escalation with India. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s readiness for dialogue and emphasized that Pakistan accepted the ceasefire mediated by international actors but maintained that decisive action was necessary in response to India’s military provocations.
Finally, Shehbaz spoke with Tajikistan’s President Emomali Rahmon, exchanging Eid wishes and acknowledging the positive development of bilateral relations. He appreciated Tajikistan’s balanced position during regional tensions and thanked Dushanbe for hosting him during his recent visit. The Prime Minister extended an invitation for an official visit to Pakistan and reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to regional peace and security.
