LAHORE: In the Punjab Assembly Senate election, the candidate from the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Rao Abdul Karim, was declared victorious.
According to unofficial and unconfirmed results, Hafiz Abdul Karim, the government’s candidate, secured 243 votes, while opposition candidate Mehr Abdul Sattar received 99 votes.
Out of a total of 368 votes, 345 were cast. The Chief Minister of Punjab, Maryam Nawaz, also cast her vote, and a total of three votes were rejected.
Voting for the vacant Senate seat from Punjab began at 9:00 AM and continued until 4:00 PM in the evening.
The Punjab Assembly was designated as the polling station for this election, with the Election Commissioner of Punjab serving as the Returning Officer.
It is noteworthy that this seat became vacant following the death of Professor Sadiq Mian, the leader of Jamiat Ahle Hadith Pakistan.
In the contest were Hafiz Abdul Karim from PML-N, opposition candidate Mehr Abdul Sattar, and two independent candidates—Khadija Siddiqui and Ejaz Hussain
