ISLAMABAD: A district and sessions court in Islamabad has issued non-bailable arrest warrants for former Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur in connection with the audio leak case.
The hearing, presided over by Additional District and Sessions Judge Nasrullah Minallah Baloch, took place on Friday. The court expressed dissatisfaction with Gandapur’s repeated absence and directed the police to arrest him and present him before the court.
While the co-accused in the case appeared during the hearing, Gandapur failed to attend. Consequently, the framing of charges was delayed, and further proceedings were put on hold.
The court adjourned the case to January 20, instructing law enforcement authorities to enforce the arrest warrants. The judge noted that despite multiple summons, the former chief minister had not complied, leaving the court with no alternative but to resort to coercive measures.
The case against Gandapur, registered at Golra Police Station, revolves around an alleged leaked audio clip. The prosecution claims the recording breaches legal provisions, while the defence denies any misconduct.
Law enforcement agencies are now charged with ensuring Gandapur’s presence at the next hearing.
