ISLAMABAD: Rear Admiral Saif Bin Nasser Bin Mohsin Al Rahbi, Commander of the Royal Navy of Oman, paid an official visit to Naval Headquarters in Islamabad where he met Admiral Naveed Ashraf, NI, NI (M), T Bt, Chief of the Naval Staff of Pakistan Navy.
The two naval chiefs held discussions on issues of shared interest, with particular focus on regional maritime security and strengthening bilateral naval collaboration.
The Omani naval chief commended the Pakistan Navy for its high standards of professionalism and appreciated its consistent role in promoting maritime security and stability across the region.
Subsequently, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the exchange of white shipping information was signed by the Chief of the Naval Staff and the Commander of the Royal Navy of Oman during a formal ceremony at Naval Headquarters. The agreement aims to formalize mechanisms and procedures for information sharing to improve mutual maritime domain awareness.
Pakistan and Oman share close geographical proximity with adjoining maritime boundaries. Relations between the two brotherly nations span multiple areas, including economic cooperation, people-to-people exchanges, and robust defence collaboration. The Pakistan Navy and Royal Navy of Oman maintain strong professional ties, reflected through Expert Level Staff Talks (ELSTS), training initiatives, bilateral naval drills, and participation in various multinational maritime exercises.
