ISLAMABAD: The Judicial Commission of Pakistan has finalized the confirmation of six additional judges from the Peshawar High Court, elevating them to the position of permanent judges. Additionally, the commission has granted a six-month extension to the tenure of four other additional judges.
Notably, Members of Parliament affiliated with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and a provincial minister from the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government were absent from the commission’s meeting.
The session, chaired by Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Yahya Afridi, involved an in-depth evaluation of relevant documentation, prior records, and submitted materials. Following a majority decision, the commission confirmed the appointments of Additional Judges Justice Muhammad Tariq Afridi, Justice Abdul Fayaz, Justice Salahuddin, Justice Sadiq Ali, Justice Syed Mudassir Ameer, and Justice Qazi Jawad Ehsanullah as permanent judges of the Peshawar High Court.
Furthermore, the commission extended the tenure of four additional judges—Justice Farah Jamshed, Justice Inamullah Khan, Justice Sabitullah Khan, and Justice Aurangzeb—for a period of six months.
