ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Higher Education Commission (HEC) has categorically dismissed the circulating social media claims of a security breach involving its database, describing them as unfounded and deceptive.
In an official statement, the HEC clarified that an immediate investigation carried out by its Cyber Security Operations Centre determined that the sample records being circulated online did not originate from or relate to the commission’s Degree Attestation System.
The authority emphasized that there is no evidence to support the allegations of a data breach and assured the public that its degree verification records remain secure and uncompromised. HEC also appealed to the public to avoid sharing unverified or misleading information that could potentially cause unnecessary alarm.
Earlier, the HEC organized a workshop as part of the Capacity Building segment of the US Merit and Need-Based Scholarship Program, held at the Marriott Hotel in Islamabad. Dr. Misbah Jabeen, the Focal Person for the HEC Merit and Need-Based Scholarship Program at UHE, participated in the event.
The workshop featured engaging and informative sessions led by distinguished experts, including Prof. Dr. Rubina Hanif, Director of NIP.
