ISLAMABAD: Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) Chairperson Rubina Khalid has announced that beneficiaries will begin receiving financial assistance through digital wallets starting in July, aiming to improve the efficiency and transparency of payments.
Speaking at a press conference in Islamabad, she said more than eight million women enrolled in the programme have already been provided with free mobile SIMs to facilitate access to digital services.
Rubina Khalid emphasized that maintaining transparency and accountability remains a key objective of BISP. She added that a re-certification mechanism has been implemented to ensure that financial assistance reaches only those who meet the eligibility criteria.
Highlighting the programme’s achievements, the chairperson said BISP has earned recognition from several countries as Pakistan’s largest social safety net initiative.
She noted that over 10 million families are currently receiving support under the Benazir Kafalat Programme, while approximately 12 million children are benefiting from educational stipends provided through the Benazir Taleemi Wazaif scheme.
