KARACHI: Proceedings in two narcotics cases against alleged cocaine dealer Anmol, also known as Pinky, were postponed after the investigating officer failed to submit the challan before a Judicial Magistrate (South) in Karachi.
The cases, registered at the Garden police station, relate to the alleged possession of narcotics and an unlicensed firearm. During the hearing, the investigation officer requested more time to complete and file the report, prompting the court to grant an extension.
The magistrate directed the officer to ensure the challan is submitted at the next hearing and adjourned the matter until June 15.
The court also observed that neither the accused nor the co-accused appeared through the scheduled video link during the proceedings.
Police Confirm Arrest Took Place in Lahore
Separately, Sindh Police informed the Sindh Assembly’s Standing Committee on Home Affairs that Anmol Pinky had actually been arrested in Lahore, according to sources.
During the committee meeting, MNA Agha Rafiullah questioned why Sindh’s image had been negatively affected nationwide if the arrest had occurred outside the province.
The committee also reviewed the province’s anti-narcotics efforts and directed authorities to broaden the crackdown on networks linked to drug rehabilitation centres, reaffirming a zero-tolerance policy against drug trafficking.
Committee member Qadir Patel said members were informed that naswar worth approximately Rs1 billion had been exported from the country, raising concerns over existing policies. He questioned why paan and gutka remain prohibited while naswar exports continue.
Another committee member, Nabeel Gabol, criticised law enforcement agencies, arguing that operations against mawa, gutka and narcotics appear to be concentrated mainly in Lyari and among underprivileged communities.
