Blast outside mosque in Peshawar, Mufti Muneer Shakir martyred

PESHAWAR: Mufti Muneer Shakir, a religious scholar who was injured in the blast outside a mosque in Peshawar, has passed away.

According to the police, an IED blast occurred outside a mosque in the Armar area of Peshawar before Iftar, in which Mufti Muneer Shakir and three other individuals were injured.

The police stated that the blast caused partial damage to the mosque’s wall, and the injured were transferred to Lady Reading Hospital in Peshawar.

The spokesperson for Lady Reading Hospital reported that Mufti Muneer Shakir was brought in critical condition. He later succumbed to his injuries. His body is being transferred from the hospital to his home.

The police mentioned that three other individuals injured in the blast are receiving treatment at the hospital, and the Bomb Disposal Unit (BDU) is collecting evidence from the scene.

The Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Ali Amin Gandapur, condemned the blast outside the mosque in Peshawar and sought a report from the police authorities regarding the incident.

The Chief Minister directed the necessary steps to arrest the culprits involved in the blast and expressed his best wishes for the speedy recovery of the injured.

The Special Assistant to the Chief Minister on Information, Barrister Muhammad Ali Saif, expressed sorrow over the death of Mufti Muneer Shakir, stating that attacks on religious scholars are extremely alarming and condemnable. He added that those who take innocent lives are enemies of humanity.
