WEB DESK: Israeli jets executed multiple airstrikes targeting military installations near Damascus and in southern Syria, amid warnings from Israeli authorities for their military to refrain from advancing southward from the capital.
Israeli airstrikes targeted military sites late Tuesday in Kiswah, located south of Damascus, along with areas in the southern province of Deraa, according to reports from local Syrian media.
The Israeli defence minister, Israel Katz, confirmed the strikes in southern Syria and warned that Israel “will not allow southern Syria to become southern Lebanon”,Israeli defence minister, Israel Katz
Katz added that “any attempt by the Syrian regime forces and the country’s terrorist organisations to establish themselves in the security zone in southern Syria will be met with fire”.
On Sunday the Israeli prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, demanded the complete demilitarisation of southern Syria.
