Pakistan on High Alert to shield Cyber Systems from Indian Propaganda

WEB DESK:  In response to an escalating wave of alleged online propaganda linked to Indian sources, Pakistani authorities have placed all relevant cybersecurity agencies on high alert to protect the nation’s digital infrastructure.

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has confirmed that the National Telecom Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT), along with other key institutions, is actively monitoring critical digital assets and web servers across the country. A PTA spokesperson, speaking to Samaa TV, reported that no major Pakistani website has experienced a confirmed cyberattack so far, but robust precautionary measures are in place. These include the issuance of cyber alerts, 24/7 monitoring, and strict oversight of vital servers.

In a parallel effort to combat digital threats, law enforcement agencies have intensified cyber patrolling to monitor and neutralize anti-state activities on social media. According to police sources, a total of 52,778 social media pages involved in spreading propaganda against national security have been identified. Of these, 11,132 have been successfully blocked by cybersecurity units and police forces.

Authorities further disclosed that 18 terror plots were foiled as a result of timely analysis and interception of suspicious online communications. Surveillance operations spanned across 54 different social media platforms, significantly aiding in the disruption of extremist communication networks.

Pakistan’s cyber defense apparatus remains vigilant, with continuous efforts underway to detect, deter, and dismantle online threats to national security.
