PM Calls Successful SCO Meeting a Major Diplomatic Win for Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif celebrated the successful hosting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Heads of Government meeting as a significant diplomatic achievement for Pakistan.

Speaking at a banquet held in honor of senators from government allied parties, the Prime Minister stated, “Pakistan’s diplomatic profile has been further strengthened on the international stage following the successful hosting of this summit.”

He extended his congratulations to political party leaders on the successful conclusion of the SCO summit, highlighting the collaborative efforts of all relevant institutions that worked as a cohesive team to make the event a success. He also noted that the recent visit of the Chinese Premier contributed positively to the proceedings.

PM Sharif specifically acknowledged the pivotal role played by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar in ensuring the event’s success. He expressed confidence in the ongoing economic recovery and stability in the country, emphasizing that the government would respond to political challenges with tangible development and prosperity.

“The government’s prudent policies have stabilized the economy, allowing us to meet our 2025 targets ahead of schedule, even in 2024,” he asserted. The Prime Minister remarked on the rapid decline in inflation, crediting the coalition parties for their hard work and sacrifices to ensure economic stability, putting aside their political interests for the greater good.

“You have all sacrificed your political gains and worked tirelessly, resulting in both economic stability and diplomatic successes,” he conveyed to coalition party leaders. He acknowledged that sacrifices from all political parties and citizens have been instrumental in helping the country navigate through challenging times.

He added, “All political parties and institutions are collaborating for national development,” and noted a consistent increase in foreign remittances over the past few months, reflecting the confidence of overseas Pakistanis in the current government.

The event was attended by Senate Chairman Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani, DPM Ishaq Dar, and senators from government allied parties, marking a moment of unity and progress for Pakistan.
