RAWALPINDI: Security forces eliminates 15 terrorist while thwarting infiltration attempt at Pak-Afghan border
In a significant security operation, Pakistani forces successfully thwarted an infiltration attempt by 20 to 25 Khawarij terrorists on the night between December 27 and 28. The militants attempted to cross into Pakistan from two locations in Kurram and North Waziristan, utilizing Afghan Taliban border posts as cover.
Sources report that on the morning of December 28, the Khawarij, in collaboration with Afghan Taliban fighters, initiated unprovoked heavy weapon fire on Pakistani posts. Demonstrating swift and effective action, Pakistani security forces retaliated with precision, inflicting substantial losses on the attackers.
Initial assessments indicate that over 15 Khawarij and Afghan Taliban fighters were neutralized, with several others injured. The counter-operation forced the Afghan Taliban forces to retreat, abandoning six of their border posts.
Security officials emphasized that Pakistan has repeatedly urged the interim Afghan government to prevent the Khorasan faction of the Khawarij from using Afghan territory to launch terrorist activities against Pakistan. Despite these requests, the Afghan Taliban continues to provide support to these extremist elements.
