KARACHI: According to the Suparco, the scientific body specializing in lunar calculations, the new moon of Dhu al-Hijjah is expected to be born on May 27 at 08:02 AM Pakistan Standard Time.
However, the analysis suggests that the moon will be approximately 11 hours and 34 minutes old at sunset on the same day, making moon sighting across the country highly unlikely.
Based on these calculations, Suparco forecasts that the first of Dhu al-Hijjah will be on May 29, 2025. Consequently, Eid ul-Adha is anticipated to fall nationwide on June 7, 2025.
It is important to note that the final decision regarding the moon sighting will be made by the Ruet Committee, which considers both scientific forecasts and traditional moon sighting reports.
