Jinnah Cardiology Centre renamed Maryam Nawaz Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases

LAHORE: The Lahore-based Jinnah Institute of Cardiology, established during the previous PTI government, has officially been renamed as the Maryam Nawaz Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases following approval from the cabinet.

Punjab Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique confirmed the renaming in an interview with media stating that the change signifies the hospital’s new status as a fully autonomous entity, separate from Jinnah Hospital.“The hospital is now an independent facility and will be governed by its own board,” Rafique explained. “It will no longer be under the administrative control or affiliated with Jinnah Hospital in any capacity.”

The minister shared that the Maryam Nawaz Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases is being developed with a modern, forward-looking approach aimed at meeting international standards in cardiac treatment. Key plans include:

  • Implementation of AI-powered and robotic medical technologies
  • Infrastructure designed to promote health tourism
  • Facilities to attract international patients seeking state-of-the-art cardiovascular care

“We anticipate that patients from abroad will seek treatment here. The hospital’s development is driven by a vision for health tourism and cutting-edge technology,” Rafique added.

He also noted that the hospital’s new name has been officially reflected in the provincial budget documents and departmental communications.
