KARACHI: Authorities have uncovered the Computerised National Identity Card (CNIC) and passport details of Anmol alias Pinky, who is currently under investigation in a high-profile drug trafficking case.
According to official records obtained during the inquiry, Pinky’s passport was issued in Karachi on April 17, 2018, and remained valid until April 17, 2023. Investigators also confirmed that a CNIC was issued on December 6, 2016, carrying a residential address on Abu Al Hasan Isphahani Road in Gulshan-e-Iqbal.
Sources linked to the investigation said officials are now examining claims that the suspect may have tried to secure another CNIC after allegedly changing their name. Authorities are also working to trace Pinky’s travel history and have reportedly gathered identity and passport information belonging to close family members as part of the broader probe.
The case has intensified scrutiny on the Sindh Police after allegations of preferential treatment surfaced. Recently, the Inspector General (IG) Sindh suspended three police personnel accused of breaching official procedures by extending “VIP protocol” to the suspect.
Public criticism escalated after videos circulating on social media showed Pinky being brought to court without handcuffs, prompting comparisons with the 2015 case involving model Ayyan Ali. Many online commentators argue the incident reflects ongoing concerns about unequal treatment within Pakistan’s justice system, particularly when influential or high-profile individuals are involved.
