KARACHI: The father of young businessman Mir Raza Ali has dismissed claims that his son’s death was a suicide, insisting he was murdered and urging authorities to conduct a transparent investigation into the case.
Mir Raza Ali, a graduate of the Institute of Business Administration (IBA), left his home on the night of July 28, telling his family he would return shortly after visiting outside. The following day, his body was discovered in bushes in Karachi’s Gulistan-e-Jauhar Block 1.
Hussain Raza alleged that his son was shot from behind and claimed his face, body and fingerprints had been deliberately burned. He also questioned the postmortem findings, saying the medical report referred only to a gunshot injury while omitting any mention of alleged torture.
The grieving father further asked where his son had remained during the nearly 24-hour period between his disappearance and the recovery of his body.
According to Hussain Raza, his son had spoken to his sister before leaving home, while a taxi driver later informed the family that the young businessman appeared cheerful and was singing during the ride, contradicting suggestions that he intended to take his own life.
Appealing to senior authorities, he called for a thorough and impartial probe to uncover the truth behind his son’s death.
Earlier, investigative sources said an initial medical examination indicated that Mir Raza Ali suffered a fatal gunshot wound to the chest. Preliminary findings also suggested he had allegedly taken a security guard’s weapon before the incident.
Meanwhile, Additional Inspector General (AIG) Karachi Police Azad Khan has established a three-member special investigation team to examine all aspects of the case. Headed by Special Investigation Unit SSP Samiullah Soomro, the team also includes District East SSP Zubair Nazir Sheikh and SP Muhammad Usman Saduzai.
The investigators have been directed to identify and arrest those responsible, submit daily progress reports, and use all available resources, including assistance from other Karachi police units if required, to ensure a comprehensive investigation into the high-profile case.
