KARACHI: The judicial investigation team tasked with probing the death of young entrepreneur Mir Raza Ali has officially begun its inquiry, issuing notices to key individuals involved.
The commission has called Mir Raza Ali’s relatives and their legal representative, Jibran Nasir, to appear before the panel on August 28 (Friday). Additionally, a notice has been served to the designated contact person from the Sindh government in connection with the investigation.
As per the established guidelines, the inquiry is expected to be completed within a 30-day timeframe.
Led by Sindh High Court Justice Omar Sial, the commission’s mandate is to thoroughly examine the events leading up to Mir Raza Ali’s death and assess all relevant factors surrounding the case.
Mir Raza Ali went missing on July 28 after leaving his residence in PECHS Block 2. His body, bearing gunshot wounds, was discovered the next day in a shrubbery area opposite the University of Karachi near Shahi Qila Ground in Gulistan-i-Jauhar.
Earlier, the Sindh Home Department outlined the scope of the inquiry through formal terms of reference (ToRs).
The commission’s responsibilities include evaluating whether the investigation was conducted fairly and lawfully, identifying any lapses or misconduct by police officials, the medico-legal team, or other government personnel involved.
It will also look into potential evidence concealment, tampering, or alterations during the investigative process.
Based on findings, the commission may recommend further forensic examinations, additional probing, or disciplinary and legal measures where necessary.
