ISLAMABAD: The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) under the chairmanship of Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, approved grants for defense expenditure during its latest meeting.
Among the major approvals was a technical supplementary grants of Rs1.94 billion for the Ministry of Defense and Rs52.7 million for the National Commission for Women.
The ECC also greenlit Rs2.26 billion for 15 ongoing projects under the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) and approved a summary for grants related to the Ministry of Information, aimed at expediting development in the information sector.
The committee also approved a technical supplementary grant of Rs120 million for arrears related to the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit, Korean Culture Week, and the Council of Heads of Government (CHG) events.
In order to support education, Rs1.50 billion was approved as a grant to increase the salaries of faculty members within the federal education framework. Similarly, a summary was approved for covering the security expenditure during the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, and Rs1.72 billion was allocated to the Interior Ministry for the repair of CCTV cameras damaged during protests in Islamabad and for clearing a 5% contract balance related to the Safe City project.
